Vellakovil Second Grade Municipality is located 48 km away from of Tiruppur and located in Tiruppur district in the State of Tamil Nadu.
It mid way between two major cities Tiruchirapalli and Coimbatore. It is located equidistant to business cities Erode and Tirupur.
The Area of the town is 64.75 Sqkm.

SRI VEERAKKUMARASAMY TEMPLE

The importance to Sri Veerakumaraswamy temple, only male gender are allowed into the temple premises to worship the God, and the females are not allowed. This habit maintains for more than a century.

    More than hundred year back there is a Vellai pillaiar (White Vinayaga or Ganesha)) temple in the corner of a road now called muthur Road. Then people going nataraya temple (More than 500 years tradition) situated in north of vellakoil from southern part of tamilnadu (Dindigul,Madurai etc. ) were identified this place as vellaipillair koil. Later this name become Vellakoil
